How to Overcome Ailurophobia, Cat Phobia Disease 
Phobia is a form of fear that is strong, continuous without or there is a rational reason caused by a certain object stimulus. One example of a phobia is Ailurophobia or also known as the phobia of cats. This one phobia is quite troublesome because most people think Cats are cute animals. And as we know, cats are not rare animals. Situations like this are unfortunate and difficult circumstances for those who have a phobia of cats.

Of course this is very disturbing, because fear limits a person in acting and doing activities, especially in cases of extreme phobias.

There are many reasons why someone can experience Ailurophobia. It could be due to childhood trauma, having been bitten, or having experienced scary things related to cats. The fear that is so imprinted, accumulates, and becomes a phobia.

Just like other types of phobias, for cat phobia, how to get rid of this fear of animals requires regular treatment and continues until the phobia is gone. People who have a phobia of cats, tend to feel stiff if a cat is in front of them and are so focused on paying attention to every movement made by this animal, even though the cat is just walking, sitting relaxed and still, but for those who are afraid of cats, feelings of insecurity, quickly dodge, and this situation is not a relaxed situation, panic will soon come to invade their minds.

Here are the steps for those who overcome Ailurophobia or serious fear of cats:

  1. Draw a Cat on a piece of paper. Have you felt a decrease in the intensity of your fear? Pay attention to your feelings.
  2. See photos/pictures of a black and white cat. Can by searching on google for examples of cat photos, do you feel comfortable when you see the black and white photos? if you are comfortable and feel no more fear, you can skip step three and go straight to step four.
  3. View photos of cats in color photo view. What do you feel? Are you comfortable with the photo? If you have a good feeling when you see a photo of a cat in color, then move on to the next step.
  4. Watch videos/moving pictures about Cats showing their behavior. You see gradually. Feel your feelings after watching the video, do you feel the intensity of the fear is decreasing? Convince yourself that the cat in this case is not dangerous.
  5. See and observe real Cats. You can start looking from inside the window. This method ensures that your mind stays safe behind a glass window.
  6. Repeat the steps above until you feel the phobia slowly disappearing.
  7. When you're sure you're not afraid, test your feelings right away. Has the phobia gone? The trick is to see the cat directly. If you feel comfortable, you can continue to approach slowly and steadily.

Repeat the steps above until you feel the change and you are completely free of the Cat phobia.
